About

Colectivo Licuado is the Uruguayan duo of Camilo Núñez and Florencia Durán, who began painting together in Montevideo in 2010 — Camilo previously as Theic, Florencia as Fitz. They describe the practice plainly, as a wall-painting enterprise giving colour to public and private space, but the pictures are anything but plain: surrealist in construction, heavily textured, and almost always built around women, often specific ones, given the scale usually reserved for monuments.

The method is research before paint. Walls are made after time spent with the people who live around them, which is why a Licuado mural in Asturias is about Asturian folk musicians and one in Montevideo is about Uruguayan artists and film-makers. Since 2013 that work has taken them through Spain, Portugal, Italy, the United States, Brazil, Argentina, India, Germany and Croatia.

The two now live in different countries — Camilo in Lisbon — and each keeps a solo practice alongside the collective. Camilo's own painting is figurative and classical in its references, drawing on Greek mythology and on the way light is handled in old-master portraiture.

Their Covilhã mural, Expedição à Serra da Estrela, was painted for WOOL 2021 and disappeared in 2025.

Expedição à Serra da Estrela

2021

Painted for WOOL 2021, retelling the 1881 scientific expedition into the Serra da Estrela — the surveyors lost in the granite and guided down by local shepherds. Mountain, snowfield and flock were stacked in bands up a tall gable, the shepherds given the same scale and seriousness as the scientists they rescued.

Culto al Cine

2017

Four film-makers — Federico Fellini, Alfred Hitchcock, Luis Buñuel and Lucrecia Martel — painted as saints on the flank of the old Cinemateca building where Avenida 18 de Julio meets Yaguarón, turning a cinema into a shrine. Made in 2017 for the 35th Montevideo International Film Festival.

Intervención en el Cabildo

An intervention in one of the courtyards of the Cabildo de Montevideo, among the oldest buildings in the city, giving three Uruguayan women artists — the painter Petrona Viera, the constructivist María Freire and the printmaker Leonilda González — the scale the building normally reserves for governors.

La Cosecha

The harvesters of Fanzara, painted into the Castellón village that turned itself into an open-air museum after a dispute over a waste dump — the duo's habitual method of spending time with the people before painting them, at village scale.

Parees Mural

Made for Parees, Oviedo's contextual mural festival, out of a participatory process with Nun Tamos Toes — a group of traditional Asturian musicians working on feminist themes. The composition is nocturnal, and the tambourines in it stand in for the moon.
