Estarreja is a municipality in the Aveiro district of central Portugal, situated between Aveiro and Porto. The area is known for its wetlands and natural environment, and has been a location for public art projects and outdoor cultural interventions that engage with the local landscape and community.

A mural created for the ESTAU festival in Estarreja depicting stylized trees transformed into Pantónio’s signature flowing, chimera-like forms. The work blends natural elements with his characteristic monochrome palette and expressive motion.

Painted for ESTAU in 2018 on the low wall beside the parish church at Largo Doutor Egas Moniz, in Pardilhó. Four panels for four trades this parish lived on: boatbuilding, weaving, the bunho reed mats still made here, and tamancos, the wooden clogs. Galo works in flat red, blue, black and white, and draws the hands doing the work larger than the people doing it.
