About

Caamaño & Ameixeiras are Sabela Caamaño (chromatic accordion, piano) and Antía Ameixeiras (violin, voice), a Galician duo formed in 2018. Their music grows out of the living tradition of Galicia — much of it instrumental, much of it made for dancing — but the arrangements are their own, intimate and contemporary rather than reverent.

Their debut Aire! (2021, Segell Microscopi) won the Premio Martín Códax da Música in the folk category; Quitar o aire followed in 2023, a darker and more mystical record that critics received as one of the strongest things to come out of the new Iberian folk scene. A second Martín Códax award followed in 2024.
