Ren (often stylized as REN) is a Welsh singer, songwriter, rapper, and multi-instrumentalist known for blending hip-hop, alternative, rock, and spoken-word storytelling into emotionally intense, narrative-driven music.
He built his early career busking in the UK and later became a fully independent artist after dealing with serious health struggles, including Lyme disease, which significantly shaped his creative output and themes.
Ren reached most of his audience through long form performance pieces posted online, and above all through Hi Ren, released in December 2022. It is a nine minute argument between Ren and the voice in his head, performed in a hospital gown in a derelict room, and it carries the whole story of the misdiagnosis and the illness described below.
